Growing the Future: Our Mission, Ethics, and Vision at In Vitro S.L.
At In Vitro S.L., we believe that the future of forestry and agriculture must be built on responsibility, transparency, and science. For over 38 years, our laboratory in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain, has been dedicated to the development and propagation of superior plant varieties—led by innovation but guided by ethics.
Our main product, the Paulownia Clone InVitro 112®, is the result of many years of careful research: it is a safe, non-GMO, non-invasive plant that provides both environmental benefits and financial advantages for farmers and industries around the world.
🌱 Our Mission: Sustainable Growth Rooted in Science
Our mission is simple yet profound:
To provide reliable, high-quality plant material that contributes to global reforestation, carbon capture, and rural economic development.
Through our in vitro propagation systems, we make accessible a tree capable of regenerating degraded soils, producing clean biomass, and capturing extraordinary quantities of CO₂—all while offering farmers a profitable and sustainable crop.
Every Paulownia Clone InVitro 112® that leaves our laboratory embodies this mission. It is not merely a product; it is the result of years of precise work, certified by independent studies from the University of Castilla-La Mancha and aligned with European sustainability principles.
Our Ethics: Quality, Transparency, and Respect
In Vitro S.L. has always stood for a model of business built on honesty and responsibility.
We only produce and sell what we have verified through independent studies.
We communicate transparently with our partners, clients, and distributors, ensuring that every plantation starts with accurate information and realistic expectations.
We believe sustainability must be more than a marketing claim—it must be measurable.
Our plants are accompanied by phytosanitary certification, traceability, and data-backed CO₂ absorption values, ensuring credibility in every project we support.
Respect for nature, for science, and for the people we work with is not a slogan; it is our operational standard.
🌞 Our Vision: A Greener, More Responsible World
We envision a future where forestry and biotechnology coexist as drivers of climate action and rural prosperity.
In this future, the Paulownia Clone InVitro 112® plays a leading role—cultivated in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas as a cornerstone for:
- Sustainable timber and biomass production,
- Soil regeneration and water efficiency,
- CO₂ sequestration and carbon-credit generation,
- To contribute to biodiversity through flower pollinators, which also produce excellent quality honey.
- and a circular bioeconomy based on renewable resources.
This vision goes beyond commercial growth. It reflects our belief that every plant propagated, every tree planted, and every hectare restored contributes to a collective effort for planetary balance.
💚 Ethical Innovation in Action
By developing advanced techniques in tissue culture and sustainable propagation, we continue to make biotechnology accessible to more regions and industries.
We share our know-how through training, partnerships, and laboratory design services, empowering others to create positive impact using our same ethical model.
Innovation without integrity has no future.
At In Vitro S.L., we innovate to preserve.
From a Barcelona laboratory to plantations worldwide
IN VITRO S.L. was founded in 1986, and for almost four decades our work has followed one guiding idea: that healthy agriculture and forestry begin with healthy plant material. In our micropropagation laboratory we multiply selected mother plants under sterile conditions, which means every plantlet that leaves our facility is genetically identical to a proven, high-performing original and free of the viruses and soil-borne diseases that spread through conventional cuttings. That consistency is what allows a grower in Spain, Romania or Morocco to plan a plantation knowing how the trees will actually behave in year three, year six and beyond.
What our ethics mean in practice
Talking about ethics is easy; applying them to plant biotechnology is a daily discipline. In practice it means we work only with non-GMO material — our flagship Paulownia Clon InVitro 112® is a natural hybrid of Paulownia elongata and Paulownia fortunei, selected, never genetically modified. It means full traceability from the mother plant to the delivered tray. It means saying no to invasive or soil-depleting species, and yes to projects that regenerate degraded land, capture carbon and give farmers a crop they can stand behind. Our plant reproduction services are built on those same rules, whether we are multiplying our own clones or developing a protocol for a client’s variety.
This vision is also why we publish our field results openly and keep investing in research with universities and independent laboratories. If you want to see what that looks like in numbers, our scientific data page and our guide to the economics of a Paulownia plantation are good places to start.
